CHAMPAGNE
Champagne Bruno Paillard Premiere Cuvee
A top notch elegant chamapagne. Pale straw in colour
with fine pinprick bubbles, delicate aromas of strawberry,
citrus fruits, almonds and honeysuckle and bone dry
yet creamy on the palate with a lingering finish.
WHITE WINES
Chablis Laroche, 2002. France,
Burgundy
This is benchmark pure Chablis - classic and
good value. It shows clean, subtle apples and cream
on the nose. The palate is crisp, lively and firm
with flinty notes. Steely dry.
Spy Valley Sauvignon, 2002. N.Zealand,
Marlborough
A great example of Marlborough Sauvignon, at
a sensible price. The wine is pale straw colour, and
the bouquet is intense with typical gooseberry, asparagus
and citrus aromas underpinned by nettly, herbaceous
elements. The palate is crisp, dry and persistent.
d'Aerenberg Hermit Crab Marsanne Voignier,
2002/3. Australia, McLaren Vale
Lovely big peachy wine with a balancing touch
of grip. D'Aerenberg just keep winning awards and
this wine may give you a clue as to why. This wine
is going to win many accolades.
RED WINES
Chateau les Genins, Claret, 2002. France,
Bordeaux
From the Grand Vins do Gironde company, a miracle!
Economical Claret, that has some character. Granted
it is fairly light, but it has soft tannins and is
very well balanced.
Palena Merlot, 2002. Chile,
Central Valley
Medium ruby/garnet colour. Red cherry and liquorice
nose with a slight herbaceousness. A full mouth-filling
wine, with a wonderful balance between the ripe berry
fruit flavours and subtle tannins. Develops well,
leaving a soft and rewarding finish. From the Valdivieso
stable.
Wholeberry Cabernet Sauvignon, Springfield
Estate, 2001. S.Africa, Robertson
Made by Abrie Bruwer, one or our favourite wine
makers. A velvety wine with soft tannins and classical
Cabernet characteristics. Traditionally produced,
unfiltered and unfined, which may deposit sediment
and require decanting.
ROSE WINES
Palena Cabernet Rose.
A gorgeous colour - mouthwatering juicy fruit
with a soft fruit finish.
